Wooster's Story by Kate Duerden
Wooster was in perfect health, I noticed his tummy seemed a little bloated after eating and he had been sleepy over 48 hours. Being a vet nurse I palpated his abdomen and could feel a sizeable mass. Within 12 hours my vet had removed a huge tumour growing from the small bowel wall. Unfortunately the lab results aren't good, large cell and the cancer cells extended beyond the margin of removal. He is now on preds and fortnightly Chlorambucil with a guarded prognosis. Likely recurrence in 6 months. The breeder says she has never seen this in any of her cats before. He tested negative for FeLV and FIV, has no other health issues at all. He's just a baby and we are devastated. He is acting as if nothing is wrong with him at all, it's horrendous knowing that his days are so very numbered. His lymphoma is B cell and large cell which is typically seen in much older cats. I just don't understand how this happened or what to expect.
Update December 2012. Wooster goes from strength to strength. His weight gain has been superb, no bone marrow suppression and is back to catching mice, climbing trees and causing merry mayhem. I so very much ope he stays in remission a long time to come.
