Precious's Story

Precious was diagnosed with mass cell tumors in May by a vet at an animal hospital. Even though surgery was mentioned, the vet said it would not be worth the risk. I turned to the internet and tried to find more information and started giving essiac tea and other natural cures for a time. Finally, I found a new vet who tried to help with medication but was told there was no cure and even if an operation was done, it would only be a matter of weeks before the end.
Precious had a healthy (vigorous) appetite right up to the end , gained some weight, active up to the time her legs began to swell. She was still very alert and got around quite well under the circumstances. Even on the way to the Vets, Precious was looking out the window and enjoying the ride. However, the mast cells spread and got really bad. She was in pain and I could not see her continue any longer.
Outcome: On Sept. 11th 2010 ,I had the vet put Precious to sleep as I didn't want her to suffer any more even though she was still very alert and surprisingly active.
Update 6-14-12: Precious companion Ali Baba died today with possible lymphoma in his intestines but he had to be put down before the surgery as his body failed him quickly.
He had been a 10lb cat but lost down rapidly to only 5 lbs. He could no longer stand. Check your pets often if you can and show them lots of love.
Precious other friend and companion , Misty, was put to sleep Feb. 25th 2013 with cancer and renal kidney failure. Misty had a long life starting in CA, she traveled widely and ended up living longer than any of ther companions. She was about 16 years when she was put to sleep.
